Adoptions and foster parents

Not all children are lucky enough to live in a safe home with caring parents. Something may happen to both parents that means they can no longer look after their children. If this happens, a court can decide that another family should look after the children, either for a short time or longer.

Sometimes the court may decide that the children should be in foster care or other times the children will be adopted.

Stephen lives with his grandma and grandpa. Why do you think he is a foster child?

Thanh was born in Cambodia. He was adopted by the Robinson family. Why do you think this family adopted him?

These girls live together in a group home with house parents. They are being cared for by the government. How did they come to live here?
