In the last chapter we learnt that judges and magistrates can’t make decisions without help from witnesses, who tell the court what they saw, what they did or what they think really happened. They play a very important role. In a criminal trial, the evidence they provide could send someone to jail: so they have to get it right. That is why lawyers and judges must test the evidence by asking questions. Let’s see how good you would be as a witness to a bank robbery.
Let’s explore
How many questions did you get right?
How would you feel if you had to be a witness in a court case?
Do you think kids would find it easier or harder to be a witness than adults?
